During the last Russell County Board Meeting County Administrator Lonzo Lester stated that the county had a triple A bond rating. Lonzo states that the county has no reserves. This is what raises the questions for me of how the county gets a triple A bond rating with no reserves?

AI google search says the following:

“While theoretically possible, achieving a AAA bond rating, the highest possible rating, without any financial reserves is highly unlikely for a local county.”

So, Lonzo is telling us the truth we have no reserves, and the county has a triple A bond rating? Or, is Lonzo lying to us and board members and the county has money in reserves? Or, is Lonzo lying to the board and the county and we do not have a triple A bond rating?

The thing that is hard for me to believe is we have a triple A rating in this county without any extra money in savings.
The board members and the citizens deserve to know the truth and the games being played with tax dollars need to stop. While there may not be anything wrong here it certainly stinks to high heaven.

I have heard through a supervisor that they suspected that the county may have around 3.6 million in reserves. This would be great but why any board member would not be told exactly what money the county has is unexplainable. The County Administrator has said no money in reserves? Which is the correct answer and why do supervisors have to wonder what totals are when they are designated to spend and watch the budget. Can you have a County Administrator that makes it hard for even the supervisors to get answers to questions?

We need supervisors fighting for us. And if they remain silent because they think they do not have the votes it makes them look as guilty as the ones causing the problems. My opinion is make the motions to let us see who is voting against the taxpayer. Whether or not enough votes are available, let the public know that they are in fact fighting for the taxpayer.
