SUGAR GROVE, Va. — Sugar Grove Baptist Church welcomed families from across the community on May 8 for its annual Mother’s Day dinner, a celebration that blended fellowship, gratitude, and a shared commitment to local ministry. The event, held at 5 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, honored mothers of all ages while raising funds by donation for the church’s annual summer outreach revival program, Ignite.

The evening featured a spaghetti supper that has become a beloved tradition in Sugar Grove. This is described it as a time when families slow down, gather around the table, and enjoy an atmosphere of community and appreciation. The fundraiser helps support Ignite, a three‑day summer revival event that has served local youth and families for more than 15 years.

Since its beginning, Ignite has been a cornerstone of the church’s mission to reach the community and share the message of Christ. The event has welcomed young and old, offering free activities, food, and family‑friendly fun. Over the years, the church has hosted inflatables, provided meals at no cost, and even brought in the Christian band NewSong for special performances. This year will be no different and will feature several food trucks as well.

This year’s events will take place June 26th-28th and feature Of The Day, Jaime Grace and River’s Edge.

Church organizers say the heart of Ignite has never changed, even as the schedule and activities have evolved. The goal remains simple: to bring people together and create space for spiritual renewal and save souls. The event has led to salvations, restored marriages, and lasting personal transformation within the community.

“We’ve always believed that if even one soul is saved, it’s worth everything we put into it,” one organizer shared.

This year’s Mother’s Day dinner helps ensure that the summer revival continues as a free, accessible event for all. The upcoming three‑day gathering—traditionally held Friday evening through Sunday—will once again offer food, fellowship, and opportunities for families to connect.

For Sugar Grove Baptist Church, the Mother’s Day celebration was more than a meal. It was a reminder of the strength of community, the importance of honoring mothers, and the shared hope that the summer outreach will continue changing lives for years to come.
