THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH RIGHT HERE IN LEBANON VIRGINIA AND IT LASTS ALL DAY!

The reason one would plug Lebanon, Virginia’s celebration on July 4th for America’s 250th Birthday is because the event is all day long. The event begins early in the morning and lasts all day until the fireworks finish later that night.

The Lebanon Lions and the Town of Lebanon partner together to pull off the great event. The Lebanon Lions are led by their President Britt Keene. And many town officials like Dianne Nunley and Shawn Street all pull together to make the event great.

Vendors and Food Trucks

Lion and former President of the club Dollie Compton lead the activities on the middle school lawn and all the vendors. The day will start off at 7 a.m. with vendors flooding the middle school lawn in downtown Lebanon. The vendors will continue opening all morning long, with hopes of being completely set up and open by 9 a.m.

The Parade

The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. It will inevitably be the biggest parade in the history of July 4th parades in Lebanon. Lebanon Lion Larry Johnston has been working hard to get the parade set up and ready for July 4th. Even at this moment Larry is lining up more people for the parade. He is looking for more floats and vehicles to share in the parade fun.

The parade is scheduled to have 3 marching bands in the parade. Honaker’s band and Castlewood band will be two that make up the marchers in the parade. The big news about the bands will be because the Buchanan County combined band may be marching in their first performance as the new Southern Gap High School Band.

The Grand Marshall for the Parade will be the Honorable Donald A. McGlothlin. He is a long time Lebanon attorney and long time Circuit Court Judge.

After the Parade

The activities for the next few hours shift to the Lebanon Middle School. Following the parade the National Anthem will be played on the lawn. At noon the Community Orchestra will be performing in the middle school auditorium. At 1:30 on the middle school lawn there will be singing by Divine Glory followed by Scott Mullins. Also, during the afternoon Lion David Coleman will lead the charge in giving away cupcakes.

Lions Booth

This year the Lions Club will have a booth setup. The booth will have Lions Club mops and brooms for sale. These brooms and mops are made by the blind in North Carolina. The booth will also be giving away free reading glasses.

The Russell Theater

Want to cool off from the heat? At 3:00 p.m. the doors at The Russell Theater will open for an event. At 3:30 the theater will be playing “American Heritage” by David Barton of Wall Builders on the big screen. The event is sponsored by Lebanon New Life Fellowship Church. Pastor Rodney Williams led the way in trying to offer some education on our Founders about our Christian heritage.

On the Football Field

At 6:30 p.m. Steel Cooking Band will perform on the football field. Following that the band Ricochet will perform.

Fireworks

Lions Britt Keene along with Jimmy Yates, Gary Breeding, and consultation from long time Lion Joe Gillespi have a special night planned for all of Lebanon.

As soon as it is dark the greatest fireworks show in Lebanon history will begin and conclude the days events.

If any town can beat a 4th celebration like Lebanon’s, then you better not miss that event as I would encourage you to not miss the Lebanon event.
