I decided to do a bit more research on the school budget, since that’s a huge factor in the City’s budget.
It seems their request is increased over last year by exactly the increase in the state’s “required local effort”, which is $356,182 out of a total request of $9,439,512, and the total over the minimum required local effort is $322,500, about 3.5%, the same as last year.
This says to me that they respect the financial difficulties we find ourselves in. They are giving a 3% pay raise, but they are doing it within the existing funding.
